Norwich War Memorial Trust

The Norwich War Memorial Trust was created on 15th October 2010 by Norwich City Council and the first two trustees Mr Richard Wilson Jewson and Mr Stephen John Morphew.

It was created with the aim of ensuring the maintenance and enhancement of war memorials within the city of Norwich and in particular to ensure the principal war memorial and the memorial gardens associated with it in St Peter’s Street, Norwich, are kept in a condition appropriate to their status as a focus for remembrance and thereby to promote remembrance of those who have fallen in war.

The memorials identified as being in the city include:

  • The principal war memorial and associated gardens on St Peter’s Street, Norwich
  • The Boer War Memorial on Agricultural Hall Plain.
  • The Edith Cavell Memorial on St Martins Place.
  • The Lord Nelson Memorial in the Cathedral Grounds.
  • The Duke of Wellington Memorial in the cathedral Grounds.
  • The Spirit of the Army, Armed Science Memorial in Earlham Cemetery, to the fallen from Britannia Barracks buried there.
